Ms. Margaret Allen, Environmental Scientist and Coastal Management Specialist

Ms. Allen supports the NOAA Coastal Services Center (CSC) by delivering training to coastal communities in development planning, identifying coastal development patterns and trends, and proposing alternatives to conventional growth and development patterns. She has experience developing tools to examine nonpoint-source pollution, erosion and other coastal features from remotely sensed data and imagery. Many of these tools are used to examine the link between development patterns and the environment, water quality in particular. Ms. Allen’s experience also includes dispersion modeling of pollutants from emission sources for environmental permitting. Ms. Allen obtained her BS in environmental science from the University of Virginia and her MBA from the Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina.
