Spatial Analyst

I.M. Systems Group, Inc. (IMSG) (www.imsg.com), a Federal government contractor is seeking a talented individual with 3-5 years experience in geographic information systems (GIS) and geospatial data management to support the NOAA Coastal Services Center (CSC) assisting primarily with our Regional Marine Planning and Ocean Energy project http:/csc.noaa.gov/cmsp/. This position will be located in Charleston, SC.

A part of the NOAA National Ocean Service, the Center’s mission is to support the environmental, social, and economic wellbeing of the coast by linking people, information, and technology. The Center (www.csc.noaa.gov) works with various branches of NOAA and other federal agencies to bring information, services, and technology to the nation's coastal resource managers.

 

Duties:

• Team lead compiling and organizing spatial data and metadata

• Responsible for data and process quality assurance improvements

• Load data into ESRI’s Spatial Data Engine (SDE), assure quality FGDC metadata compliance and perform system testing

• Working within a team conducting spatial analysis

 

Qualifications:

• 3-5 years experience using ESRI ArcGIS software and extensions for spatial data development, analysis and/or metadata documentation is required

• Organization and attention to detail

• Demonstrated experience in data and process quality improvement

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Experience in any of the following areas highly desirable:

1. Multiuser Geodatabase
2. Authoring and Deploying Fast Web Maps
3. Authoring and Publishing Optimized Map Services
4. Publishing Map Services with ArcGIS Server
5. Editing in ArcGIS
6. Building Geodatabase Data Models
7. SQL Server Queries

 

• Experience with marine jurisdictional, biological, and transportation data sets is highly desirable

• Experience and skill in cartography is highly desirable

• Advanced degree in earth science highly desirable
