IMSG is assisting the Landscape Characterization and Restoration Program of the NOAA Coastal Services Center to create Environmental Characterizations of specific coastal regions.
An Environmental Characterization, examples of which can be found at http://www.csc.noaa.gov/lcr/enviro.html, delivers essential information, spatial data, and analysis tools to coastal resource managers, planners, regulators, and other stakeholders. Each characterization enhances critical understanding of the ecosystems, economics, and socio-cultural contexts for coastal management actions. The final product typically includes an integration of graphical narrative, spatial data (Internet mapping, static maps, and downloadable data), and custom spatial analysis tools.
IMSG assists NOAA and its partners with the development of Environmental Characterizations by providing:
Development of outreach products, technical reports, and peer-reviewed publications
Computer programming for the creation of spatial analysis tools
Quality project management and oversight
Expert environmental science consultation
Coordination of partner and client communications
Facilitation of meetings and stakeholder workshops
Creation and maintenance of spatial data products
Web site design and coding
Graphic design consultation
Coordination of critical product reviews
Evaluation of product effectiveness
