IMSG helps sponsor the Responding to Climate Change workshop for coral reef managers, August 27-30 in Pago Pago, American Samoa. More than thirty experts in coral reef management from American Samoa, Guam, Hawai’i, Fiji, and Western Samoa met to share strategies for mitigating the future impacts of climate change on coral reefs. Activities helped participants predict where coral bleaching will occur, measure coral reef resilience, and assess the socioeconomic impacts. IMSG provided staff and meeting support to help make this event possible, and sponsored a welcome reception on August 27, 2007, to kick off the workshop. IMSG has enabled this workshop to be a carbon-neutral event by contributing funding to fully offset carbon emissions from printing workshop materials and from participants’ and instructors’ air travel.

Air Force Knowledge Now (AFKN), the award winning collaboration tool used within the Air Force for Knowledge Management, reached a record high for pages viewed. On October 3rd, 234,951 pages were viewed. Air Force Knowledge Now also supports over one terabyte of information and over 5,000 communities of practice.

We are also starting to use this tool in new and exciting ways. One example, from just over a year ago, is the use of AFKN for sharing aerial photographs with emergency responders after Hurricane Katrina. We are proud of the number of groups that we are supporting, helping them work more efficiently and effectively.
